Fine Dining on Long Island

There are enough tablecloths between Great Neck and Montauk to blanket Long Island. Nassau and Suffolk are rife with fine-dining restaurants.

The most popular cuisine: Italian. But the two counties are full of steak houses, seafood establishments, continental mainstays and  New American eateries, plus a healthy sprinkling of dining rooms for French, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese and combinations thereof.

Their food is rated according to a star system, from none to four, or fair/poor to exceptional. Service and ambience are rated from poor to exceptional, but do not carry a star rating.

This guide should help you find exactly what you want. It's consumer reporting with knife and fork.
