  • The morning after: New Year's Day brunch

    Toast the New Year

    After a night of partying – or just staying up late to watch the ball drop — you may not feel like doing any cooking tomorrow morning — or afternoon, if that’s when you fall out of bed.

    Here are just a few restaurants planning to usher in 2010 with a festive New Year’s Day brunch:

    The time: 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    The meal: Three-course prix-fixe (main course choices include omelet, French toast, Maryland soft shell crabs meunière) with mimosa, Bloody Mary, or glass of house wine. Includes dessert.
    The price: $24.95 per person

    The place: Coolfish, 6800 Jericho Tpke., Syosset, 516-921-3250, tomschaudel.com
    The time: 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    The meal: Three course prix-fixe (main course options such as Jack Daniels French toast and steak frites). Includes dessert.
    The price: $34 per person

    The time: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    The meal: A la carte menu with dishes such as omelets, smoked salmon eggs Benedict, and “day after” turkey sandwich (stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy and fresh roasted turkey breast). Freshly squeezed orange juice mimosas and fresh peach Bellinis available.
    The price: Entrees about $7 to $15 each

    The meal: Buffet brunch with unlimited Champagne and mimosas. There will be carving stations, chafing dish entrees and made-to-order omelets. Includes coffee and dessert.
