Miley Cyrus has no intention of looking back.
The 16-year-old Disney star unleashed a full-fledged, tween-tastic musical barrage at Nassau Coliseum Wednesday night designed to propel her toward a grown-up career. (She returns for another sold-out show Thursday night.)

No dual roles here. Hannah Montana has been sidelined. This is Miley's show, from the moment she busts her way out of a fake iceberg for "Breakout" to her final thank yous on "The Climb." And her youth, and, at times, inexperience show.
And with this tour, Miley has set herself up as the new princess of pop, the heiress to the Britney Spears throne, complete with flashy, more age-appropriate dance routines and spectacular stunts like hanging 30 feet above the crowd.
Of course, she isn't shying away from Spears' knack for generating a bit of controversy, either.
Although she's still working with some uneven material, Miley, who has put all those lip-synching controversies behind her by singing the entire show, is making the best of it.
"Bottom of the Ocean" is a drab little ballad live, but it's saved by throwing in the elaborate staging where she flings herself into a make-believe ocean and is seen swimming on the massive video screens.

Her No. 1 smash, "Party in the U.S.A.," as well as the recent hit "The Climb," has established her as a more serious singer. But she handles herself well on the ballads "When I Look at You" and "Obsessed," too.
Flash is where Miley excels, though. She powers her way through Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," while seated on a motorcycle hoisted over the crowd. And when she's nodding her head like, yeah, during "Party," she seems perfectly at home with her troupe of nine dancers.
She may not be fully grown as an artist yet, but she's certainly on her way.
