Something sexy (and the city)

OK. We admit it. We at the Bridal Planner are die-hard "Sex and the City" fans. So, when rumors and photos leaked out in October that our favorite fictitious sex columnist, Carrie Bradshaw, was possibly getting married in the "Sex and the City" movie, due out May 30, we went into major "Omigod" mode. What in the name of all that is de rigueur would our Manolo Blahnik-strutting queen of couture and her crew wear for such a major event?

Several photos taken during filming show Bradshaw primping and occasionally running in a satiny, strapless Vivienne Westwood gown with a full, layered skirt. Her hair is pulled up into an elegant chignon and adorned with a simple cathedral veil and large, flashy, turquoise feather. Meanwhile, pals Charlotte York Goldenblatt, Miranda Hobbes and Samantha Jones add zing in neckline-plunging, sleeves- and hemline-ruffled Zac Posen gowns. Since the release of the photos, theories have abounded about Carrie's nuptials -- one of them being that the wedding shots are merely a dream sequence. We would like to think that Carrie is, indeed, taking a strappy-heeled walk down the aisle -- hopefully with Mr. Big

Four gown designers

Wanting a piece of the action, we contacted four wedding gown designers -- Rani Totman of St. Pucchi, Angel Sanchez, Chia Lieu and Mark Brower of the Vineyard Collection, a subsidiary of Priscilla of Boston -- and asked them how they would have dressed Carrie and her three friends.

Totman selected a strapless, pleated gown with a jeweled bodice because it best expresses Carrie's chic and smart style. Brower picked a tafetta ball gown with pockets because "it is very sophisticated and contemporary," like Carrie. Chia Lieu opted for a form-fitting lacy design, which accentuates the character's beautiful hip line. Angel Sanchez, who says the "Sex and the City" style is an eclectic one, picked three flirty cocktail dresses for Carrie's bridesmaids. Brower also supplied three colorful frocks for Carrie's pals.

Models, not actresses

Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress who plays Carrie, and the actresses who play her friends couldn't make our shoot. Sigh. But we were able to get four models from HamptonModels in Hauppauge to channel the four characters.

Next, we brought in Ali Yarkhan, the creative director at NuBest Salon and Spa in Manhasset, and headed to the Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center for its posh interiors.

Yarkhan and NuBest's hair and makeup team created glamorous looks, including heavily lashed eyes, lush lips, and hip 'dos. The results were amazing -- and totally "Sex and the City."
