This Irish bar on Islip's main drag sets itself apart from other area establishments with its affable and approachable staff. The bouncers, bartenders, and managers could teach politicians a thing or two about shaking hands. This place prides itself on knowing everybody who walks through the door by their second visit, by appearance if not by name. Customers can order food off a full menu (the corned beef on rye is popular for $5.75) until closing time, at 4 a.m. Most nights, a predominately young, J.Crew-esque crowd mingles inside the bar or on the outdoor patio, which doubles as a smoking lounge in winter. On Tuesdays (all-you-can-drink beer and chicken wings for $10), Thursdays (three-for-one drinks from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.), and Fridays (ladies night, happy hour, free buffet, drink specials two-fors, acoustic music, and live bands), a deejay sifts through the top 40 pop, rap, and rock hits. WBLI radio shows up some Thursdays to sponsor shout-outs and call-ins. Cover bands play Saturday nights. Lilys "Beer Pong Festival," beer specials, available every Monday; Sundays "Industry Night" for restaurant bartenders and staff , featuring acoustic music.
