They say the thrill is in the chase, and around Easter time, there are dozens of egg hunts that send kids scurrying across lawns, peeking under bushes and otherwise scavenging for brightly colored plastic eggs. Some eggs hold promises of prizes--from gift certificates and toy trinkets to chocolate bunnies and marshmallow chicks. Others reward finders with a far more modest prize: plain 'ole bragging rights.
Below is a schedule of local Easter egg hunts happening around Long Island this weekend and next. Don't forget to bring your own basket or bag for collecting.
Saturday, March 22
Aquebogue. Both kids and adults can partake in egg hunts for prizes at
Palmer Vineyards on Sound Avenue from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The little ones will do it the traditional way (11:30 a.m. for ages 2-5; 1:30 p.m. ages 6-10). Meanwhile, adults who purchase a glass of wine will get an egg that contains a coupon for a 25-100 percent discount. 631-722-9463,

Floral Park.
Queens County Farm Museum is hosting it's annual Easter egg hunt in the orchard along with egg tossing, rolling and other games from noon-4 p.m. Admission is $4 per person, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway,

Huntington Station. Bethany Presbyterian Church's Easter Eggstravaganza starts at 11 a.m. (425 Maplewood Rd.) with crafts, a story, face painting and a hunt for children ages 10 and under and their parents. Call 631-423-6359 to register.
Islandia. Pal-O-Mine Equestrian's Easter EGG-Stravaganza runs from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. with egg hunts, pony rides and petting zoo for kids of all ages. It's $5 per child, proceeds benefit the non-profit's theraputic horseback riding program. 829 Old Nichols Road, 631-348-1389 or

Lindenhurst. Town of Babylon residents are invited to the Town Hall Park (200 East Sunrise Highway) from noon-2 p.m. for a free egg hunt, animals and other spring activities geared toward kids ages 10 and under, 631-893-2100.
Oyster Bay. Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center's egg hunt for ages 2-10 is from 1-2 p.m. at 134 Cove Road. It costs $8 per child and you should RSVP in advance, 516-922-3200.
Sunday, March 23
Northport. The Northport-Centerport Lions Club sponsors an Easter egg hunt at Village Park at 1 p.m. Rain postpones until Sunday, March 30. 631-754-3905 or

Quogue. Kids ages 2-4 can hunt for eggs and make a craft at 9:30 a.m. or 11 Easter Sunday at the
Quogue Wildlife Refuge (3 Old Country Road). It costs $8 per child and reservations are required, 631-653-4771.
