You picked the holes, we built the course. Sort of. It's the Dream 18, Long Island's fantasy golf course.
It was built by the readers who were give 45 days to submit their favorite first hole on a Long Island golf course, their favorite second hole, and so on down the scorecard. The No. 1 hole with the most votes won. The No. 2 hole with the most votes won, and so on down the scorecard.
So, for example, it's possible that the 16th hole at a particular course received more votes than the 8th hole at a particular course, but did not receive more than another 16th hole. Therefore, under this example, that 16th hole is not part of The Dream 18.
We chose to do it this way to keep true to golf courses on Long Island. When constructing this blueprint, we felt it necessary to play it as it lies. Sure, there may be a dozen 16th holes that would be great to play, but only one can be part of The Dream 18.
In the initial submission phase, five holes tied. In those instances, polls were created and readers were given one week to vote in the run-off.
