Former home of William K. Vanderbilt II, a 24-room Spanish-Moroccan mansion, marine museum, exhibit areas with marine science specimens, natural history dioramas, 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy, dinosaur replicas, artifacts. Plays, concerts, theatrical brunches, telescope viewings, laser shows, year-round planetarium shows (Friday evenings, Sat. and Sun. daily), adult and children's programs. Living history mansion tours, weekends May 26-Oct. 28. Sites available for private functions.
Hours10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tue.-Sat., noon-5 p.m. Sun.July-Labor Day. 12-5 p.m. Tue.-Sun. Sept.-June. closed Mon. (except holidays). Planetarium closed weekdays to the public when school is in session (open summer, holidays, weekends and school breaks).
