The 23-room Victorian home of Theodore Roosevelt, was the summer White House during his presidency, 1902-09. With furnishings unchanged since this time, it features mementos of the president's life, big-game trophies and gifts from world leaders.

The landscaped grounds can be enjoyed from one of Roosevelt's old rockers on the porch. The National Park Service administers the site and offers lectures and environmental programs.

Hours

Grounds open dawn to dusk, daily year-round; closed some holidays. House is open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day, guided 45-minute tours 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed Mon. and Tue. Sept. through May. Call ahead and come early on busiest weekends
