Jones Beach, Long Island

Rock out at Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell

August 6, 2007
There's more to the nights at Jones Beach than just concerts, miniature golf and ice cream.

Poke your head into the bandshell any summer night for some free musical fun.

There are Latin nights, kids' nights, country line dancing, smooth jazz and . . . wait for it . . . tribute bands! Oh yeah. That's right. Party the summer night away with the fake Bon Jovi, Grateful Dead and Mötley Crüe-and that's just in July.

The bandshell, a summer mainstay at Jones Beach for years, provides a free night of entertainment. Put together a crew and roll into the Central Mall at Field 4. Get there after 6 p.m. and the parking is free, too. Woo hoo!

Quick tip: On weekend nights, you might want to get there an hour early or so (shows start at 8 p.m.) to assure yourself a good spot on the floor. And bring your own chairs if you want to sit and relax. Otherwise, no guarantees on finding a spot on the wooden bleachers.

Beer, soda, water, ice cream and other refreshments are sold at the concession stand within 100 feet of the bandshell. There's also a stand that sells water, lemonade and pretzels right on the boardwalk.

Here's the schedule for the rest of the summer:
