Lynne's Cards & Gifts,137 Main St.: The place is such a central hangout that owner Lynne Jones says she's like a bartender, minus the alcohol. "We know everybody's story," she says. Jones, who took over the 33-year-old shop 14 years ago, sells magazines, newspapers, greeting cards, fine stationery, tchotchkes such as yo-yos, and picture frames. Kids congregate in the place, and you might spot luminaries such as Adam Sandler and Michael J. Fox.
