Navigating through a throng of beautiful people with sun-kissed skin can prove difficult at this uber-trendy, celeb-catering-but-regular-people-friendly club. But, when the music is slamming, and the rotating mix of DJs assures it usually is, party people find a way to boogie. Try hopping up on part of the couches that line the dance floor.
Then there's the ledge on the back of those couches. They're perfect for letting loose on a summer night in the Hamptons. Just be careful. Many partygoers who have those tables put their drinks on that ledge. Don't kick them over on anyone. Don't be that guy.
With hundreds of people living it up Hamptons style, it gets pretty hot in there. Escape to the fresh air outside with doors on either side of the elevated bar.
If the hip-hop doesn't do it for you, swing across one of the outdoor walkways into the other room that plays more variety. You won't be disappointed.
And the party people? No disappointment there either. Fellas, we suggest you stretch your neck muscles before going out. Otherwise, we can't be held liable for the whiplash you'll wake up with Sunday morning after watching beautiful well-dressed woman after beautiful well-dressed woman walk by. Ladies, do the same. After a day at the beach, the fellas clean up well.
Star Room lives up to its name. Known for its celebrity clientele, Heather Graham, Carmen Electra, Russell Simmons and Howard Stern are among the club's famous frequenters.
For you mortals who make it through the door, try working your way to the back VIP room, a cozy (read: "small") indoor spot with a small courtyard where regular people can pretend to get near the famous people.
If you just want a quiet place to mingle with friends or look for a new friend (OK, relatively quiet, because this is still a club), mull around outside. There's space in between both rooms, in the back near the VIP, and along the sides of the club.
Drinks prices are what you'd expect them to be. Think Hamptons lifestyle at Manhattan prices.
Club owner Charles Ferri likes to mix things up each week, so don't expect the same experience every weekend. Ferri keeps it fresh with different themes and different DJs.
Star Room got a makeover for 2007, but its greatest addition may just be the additional acre of parking. However, if you get there later in the evening, or you don't like to wait for valet, park down the block and walk along Main Street. Sure, it's not as sexy as pulling up to the front of the club with "Super Hero" by Jane's Addiction blasting and tossing your keys to some dude in a vest, but you'll save yourself some time.
