Red Door in Mattituck has an updated continental-new American style. Open
for dinner, it offers dishes such as grilled swordfish, rack of lamb, and pasta

Farmer Bar in Cutchogue. Come here for pulled pork,
smoked and barbecued brisket, St. Louis and Kansas City ribs, biscuits and

Just for the look of the joint, it's worth stopping by the Cutchogue Diner,
a mainstay for the basics, morning, noon and night, from waffles to salads to

The most ambitious newcomer is the new
Jamesport Manor Inn, handsomely
rebuilt after a blaze. The Euro-New American is very satisfying and very good.
Winners include wild mushroom risotto, flatiron steak and herb-basted striped

From the same owners and more casual is a North Fork mainstay, the homey
and appropriately countrified
