New to the neighborhood is George Martin's Coastal Grill (40 E. Park Ave., 516-432-2690). This is the offspring of the very popular George Martin in Rockville Centre. Plenty of seafood and beachy fare, but steaks and chops, too.

Also from the George Martin group is Nick DiAngelo (152 W. Park Ave., 516-889-3366), where the cuisine is hearty Italian, with stuffed and baked pastas, steaks, and the like. The steak al forno with provolone and peppers stands out.

Corbin & Reynolds (20 W. Park Ave., 516-431-4600) offers a dramatic space and a lot of buzz to go with its lively new American cooking. Corbin is Austin Corbin, former head of the Long Island Railroad and the firm that ran the Long Beach Hotel; Reynolds, William Reynolds, the first mayor of Long Beach.

At Duke Falcon's Global Grill (36 W. Park Ave., 516-897-7000), the fusion theme is played, with dishes ranging from pot stickers to flautas and jerk chicken to Argentine-style steak. Duke Falcon's has a witty, entertaining style, too.

Seafood, steaks and hamburgers highlight the menu at Sutton Place (124 W. Park Ave., 516-431-3133, an American restaurant that's equal parts traditional and new.

"Undersea cuisine" is the mainstay of Angelfish (180 W. Park Ave., 516-431-0044), but there's more than enough for carnivores. The restaurant has good service and a distinctive personality.

Minnesota's (959 W. Beech St., 516-432-4080) is a restaurant and tavern, with food till 10 p.m. The dishes are uncomplicated and American, emphasis on burgers, steak and seafood.

Casual Italian is the theme at Caffe Laguna (960 W. Beech St., 516-432-2717); and at Domenica's (780 W. Beech St., 516-432-7262).

The raw and the cooked are offered at Kawasaki (22 E. Park Ave., 516-889-6699). The Japanese restaurant specializes both in sushi and hibachi grill dishes.

And Swingbellys Beach Side BBQ (909 W. Beech St., 516-431-3464) delivers all your favorites in barbecue, preceded by starters such as Buffalo-style chicken wings, chili, cheese fries and pickle chips.
