Restaurants in and around Cold Spring Harbor

Grasso's, 134 Main St.; 631-367-6060. Open for lunch and dinner, Grasso's retains some of the Italian flavor of its former incarnation, Trattoria Grasso, with plenty of pastas, but the menu now includes New American, Asian and Mediterranean flourishes as well. At lunch, burgers, main-dish salads and a fish sandwich are available.

105 Harbor, 105 Harbor Rd.; 631-367-3166. A few paces out of town and just opposite the harbor, 105 Harbor is open for lunch and dinner. The emphasis is on steak and seafood with a French or Asian twist here and there; the lunch menu favors main-dish salads, burgers and pastas.

Bedlam Street Fish & Clam Company, 55 Main St.; 631-692-5655. The pub-style decor doesn't hint at the ambitious menu here, e.g. Yukon-gold-crusted salmon with horseradish-laced mashed potatoes, sweet-onion braised escarole and champagne-lemon emulsion. At lunch there are grilled flat breads. Available in the bar area is a more casual "speakeasy menu." Lunch and dinner every day except Monday.

Gourmet Goddess, 111 Main St.; 631-692-9646. Alongside the tabletop items, knick-knacks, jewelry, hats, bags and children's apparel are owner Barbara Esatto's homemade chocolates, baked goods, salads, soups, sandwiches and wraps. Eat inside or out (perhaps on one of the porch's rocking chairs). Open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cold Spring Plaza Deli, 15 Harbor Rd.; 631-367-3533. Grab a soup or sandwich at this friendly deli, or enjoy a hot breakfast. In good weather you can eat outside. Open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Down the road from Cold Spring Harbor and across the county line in Woodbury is a small shopping district with these dining options:

In the Mood, 151 Woodbury Rd.; 516-367-8930. In addition to her luxuriant homemade ice cream, owner Ana C. Mocete prepares breakfast specialties, soups, sandwiches, wraps and coffee drinks. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus In the Mood has free wifi.

Frank's Gourmet Pizzeria and Restaurant, 141 Woodbury Rd.; 516-692-5626. Open for lunch and dinner, Frank's offers a full complement of pizzas, heros, pastas and Italian specialties.

Wrap It Up Grill, 108 Woodbury Rd.; 516-692-6333. This kid-friendly restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, serves dozens of wraps, plus quesadillas, burritos, tacos, burgers and salads.

Woodbury Country Deli, 153 Woodbury Rd.; 516-367-4180. Get breakfast, lunch or dinner at this old-fashioned deli that, in addition to sandwiches, serves roasts, casseroles and other hot dishes. Outdoor seating only.

Hoi Won, 126 Woodbury Rd.; 516-367-8200. A full-service Chinese takeout for lunch or dinner.
