In the cozy, folkloric dining room, you can enjoy the body- and soul-warming fare of Afghanistan. Owner Manila Rahimi makes sure diners feel cared about and feeds them well.
Start with aushak, leek and scallion dumplings topped with meat sauce and chopped mint. Kadu, sauteed pumpkin topped with that same sauce, will win over even those who think they don't like pumpkin.
Lamb or beef kebabs are well-marinated, expertly grilled. The mellow chicken and yogurt dish called murgh sumoruk is another winner. So, too, is the soothing shish leek (lamb stew).
For dessert, it's hard to say which is better, Afghani cornstarch pudding with pistachios or the fragrant Afghani rice pudding. Order both.
