Woodcleft Crabshack

150 Woodcleft Avenue
Freeport, NY 11520
516-868-6198

Despite its being across the street from the water, the Crabshack, as everyone calls it, is one of the Nautical Mile's most endearing spots. Decorated in a cheery nautical motif (with subtle Greek touches as well), it serves up all the seafood classics: clams on the half shell, steamers, steamed mussels, red and white clam chowder, fried fish, broiled fish (as entrée or in sandwiches) and, this being Long Island, a handful of Italian dishes as well: zuppa di mare, pasta in clam sauce and shrimp parmigiana, marinara, fra diavolo or scampi. The Crabshack also serves fried Ipswich clams, that is, clams with the bellies still attached.
