The Schooner

435 Woodcleft Avenue
Freeport, NY 11520
516-378-7575

Most of the restaurants along the Nautical Mile have views of the canal--and of the houses that line the canal's opposite bank. Located at the Southern edge of the canal, the Schooner looks out over the islands of Middle Bay and Long Beach beyond. The large restaurant can seat up to 350 in its various rooms and outdoor spaces and it's a favorite locations for private events. The menu relies on the classics: shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, stuffed flounder, pan-seared salmon, broiled or steamed lobsters, crab cakes and a handful of steaks. Less traditional offerings include pecan-crusted halibut, coconut shrimp and lobster ravioli. Children under 12 get a good deal six choices all under $10.
