The Hideaway

The Hideaway is a casual, easygoing eatery near the water. It has a generically pleasant look, sort of colonial, kind of modern, with enough space for a good-size group. Arrive early for the three-egg omelets and frittatas, eggs Benedict, and banana-stuffed French toast. Midday, you're in for fried calamari, crab cakes, chicken pot pie, beef stew and chicken Parmigiana with linguine. They also make tasty panini, whether you're drawn to the prosciutto-mozzarella-tomato union of soppressata sith peppers and provolone. There's a vegetarian panino, too, along with hero sandwiches, salads and pizzas. For dinner, shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail and stuffed peppers compete with soy-sesame barbecued shrimp, baked clams oreganata and mussels with onions, capers, garlic and white wine vinegar. Entree alert: rack of lamb, filet mignon, grilled rib-eye steak, beef braciola, stuffed pork chop, blackened salmon, trout amandine.
