Meson Ole

1746 County Road 39
Southampton, NY 11968-5204

One more sombrero is tossed into the ring. The Southampton link in this chain is typically casual and to the point, and as good a stop as any if you're going nuts en route to your Hamptons hideaway. Besides, it's cheaper than the main events on the East End. Meson Ole combines Mexican and Spanish dishes on its uniform meny. Here, better choices include nachos, guacamole, a fried chile relleno, and the enchiladas Suizas - a soft tortilla filled with chicken and finished in green sauce and melted cheese. Cheese quesadillas, chorizos sauteed with mushrooms, shrimps in garlic sauce, and the house's chili have their advocates, too. Summer gazpacho, wintry garlic soup, and all-seasons corn-tortilla soup are respectable choices. The fajitas sizzle on cue. And there are 20 Mexican combination plates so you can echilada-tamale-taco-and-flauta your way along Montauk Highway.
