The Plaza Cafe

The Plaza Cafe easily is the top seafood restaurant on the East End, and one of the best on Long Island. Chef Douglas Gulija prepares fish and shellfish, local and not, with great skill and a light touch. His restaurant is a summery place, awash in sunny hues. And his food fits right in. Among Gulija's winning dishes are a meaty swordfish "chop" with potato-spinach ragout and carrot-chive broth, the tuna-and-crab tian, a "shepherd's pie" filled with lobster and shrimp, monkfish "osso buco" and the strawberry-rhubarb crisp with an amaretti-almond crust and ginger ice cream.
