George Martin's Grillfire

The size and noise level of the crowd at George Martin's Grillfire testifies to the fact that it has taken Rockville Centre food scene in a big way. The spiffy new place, which replaces Max's Grille & Tavern (also part of the George Martin Group) features a menu whose focal point is "designer" burgers.

To start, a roster of appetizers (also called "small plates") includes, among other choices, ginger vegetable pot stickers, a chopped salad and grill-fired quesadillas.

Burger options includes a prime Angus burger, a freshly ground turkey burger and the restaurant's own vegetarian burger. An American Kobe beef burger is also up for grabs. Then, there are variations on the basic theme, which include a Kobe beef "fancy steak house" burger with creamed spinach, onion and "Lugar" style steak sauce as well as a Tijuana burger burrito and a pita pocket veggie burger with hummus.

Those who favor something other than a grilled patty can go for something like a chicken pot pie, a turkey meatloaf, or a Black Angus grilled rib eye steak.

Dessert includes the George Martin state-of-the-art brownie sundae, a fudgy treat topped with clouds of freshly whipped cream. Nobody leaves this place hungry.
