You can't get much closer to England on Long Island than Greenport, and you can't get much closer to England in Greenport than the Greenport Tea Company. It's a quaint and charming tea shop that offers light lunches, and of course, pots of tea, at $2.25 per person. Choices include English Breakfast, Orange Pekoe, Earl Grey, Green, Jasmine and Darjeeling and an assortment of herbal teas. For lunch, start with fresh pears and brie for $7.95, or try the soup of the day with fresh baked corn bread. Quiche of the day is $9.95 with a side salad and fruit. Smoked salmon, with capers, onions, fresh tomatoes, and cream cheese, served with slices of brown bread is $13. Salads and wraps are also available. Feeling positively British? Get the high tea for two, arranged on a three-tiered stand, with scone with jam and cream, assorted tea sandwiches and mini pastries, fruit, tart and tea for two, for $24.75. A selection of wine and beer is offered.
