Driver's Seat Restaurant
62 Jobs Lane
Southampton, NY 11968
631-283-6606
Wooden booths, brass, stained glass and a stone fireplace give a warm feel to the Driver's Seat, which takes its name from the original owner's love of auto racing. The building dates from 1886 and was first used as a restaurant in 1960. It has a full service bar indoors and on the patio, sites that are good for parties. The burgers here get raves, starting at $9.95 for 8 ounces. Try one with the seasoned french fries. People come specially for the baked clam dip, an appetizer at $9.95. The $15.95 lobster roll comes with big chunks of lobster meat. A popular dinner entree is the Prince Edward Island mussels, in white wine, garlic and lemon over linguini for $17.95. The restaurant has homemade quiches, a choice of fresh fish daily, lunch and dinner specials, and comfort foods. Meatloaf and turkey, with traditional accompaniments, are $19.95. The restaurant is child friendly, with a kids menu.
