On Main Street in Southampton, Barrister's has a patio and lots of windows and so is a good spot for people watching. The interior is casual and decorated with paintings, and has a pub feel. After dinner, a lively bar scene takes over.

Burgers, salads and sandwiches are the strong suit here, along with evening specials. Monday is pasta night, $16.95 with a Caesar salad. On Thursday it's prime rib, as well as two for one dinners. The locally famous Barrister's burger is topped with Bermuda onion, guacamole and sour cream, and comes with fries, cole slaw and a pickle for $9.50. The meat is delivered daily from a local butcher. Another popular choice is the grilled chicken breast and arugula salad, for $11.25. The restaurant is kid-friendly and features a kids menu.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. In between, lighter fare: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dinner: 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
