One-story restored Sears-Roebuck mail order house. It houses a collection of letters, journals, photographs, furniture and other artifacts dating from the 1800s and serves as the society's headquarters. The house was originally purchased through a catalog in 1925 by Lippman Johnson, an African-American worker, and his wife, Rose. It was occupied by their descendants until the mid-1980s.
