Often, barflies who are sick of rubbing elbows with Hamptons socialites enjoy hopping over to the Stephen Talkhouse.

A live music legend, the Talkhouse focuses its energy on attracting an eclectic mix of the best artists around, from local talent to international superstars.

Richie Havens, Suzanne Vega, and Lyle Lovett (to name a few) have all graced the stage. As have Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Sting. Maybe you've heard of them.

The owners certainly don't focus on the décor, however, which consists of rough-hewn beams, a crumbly stucco ceiling, and black walls that give the space a cave-like feel. Hundreds of autographed headshots depicting musicians who have played the Talkhouse erupt from the walls and cover a good portion of the ceiling, adding to the historic flavor.

In the summer, customers can step outside to the Tiki Bar, which features a sidewalk barbeque, patio seating, and concrete handprints from some of the bar's most famous performers. The venue, which is open seven nights in the summer but slims down to a Thursday-to-Sunday schedule during the slower months, prides itself on being utterly unpretentious.
