A fixture in Great Neck for more than 30 years, Kensington Deli is the perfect antidote to modern delis that serve everything from Florentine-style panini to tossed-to-order balsamic-dressed mesclun salads. Here is a deli that is a Deli.

Kensington doesn't stray very far from the traditional: Kosher franks, corned beef, pastrami, tongue, brisket, roast beef, turkey, salami, bologna, chopped liver, chicken salad and tuna-fish salad can be had as regular sandwiches (around $8) or "extra-heavy combination sandwiches" that run closer to $12. Sides include knishes, latkes, stuffed cabbage and stuffed derma.

There's not much more to the store than a long counter and a row of booths opposite it. Service is exceedingly friendly.
